Who We Are


The New Times Corporation, is a state-owned media organisation regulated by the National Media Commission. It was formally known as the Guinea Press and was established by the first president of Ghana Kwame Nkrumah in 1757 as the printing house for his Convention People’s Party (CPP). When Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown in a military coup in 1966, the Guinea Press was taken over as a state property by National Liberation Council Decree (NLCD 130 of 1968. The press in 1971 transformed into the New Times Corporation (NTC) by an instrument of Incorporation (Act 363. 1971).

As a primary function set out the Act, the NTC is engaged in the publication of newspapers, magazines and general commercial printing. Since its establishment 64 years ago, the NTC has been a major partner in disseminating relevant information about state policies and programmes whiles positively impacting the socio-economic development of Ghana.
Currently, the Corporation publishes the Ghanaian Times (a national daily newspaper) and the Spectator (a national weekly newspaper), as well as online portals for the Ghanaian Times and Spectator and social media handles for the brands.

To offer customers credible multimedia products and services using a well-trained, disciplined and motivated workforce equipped with the relevant resources to ensure sound and financially sustainable operations.
